11 members of Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti donates blood at Samvedna Camp

23.03.21: Eleven members of Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti donated their blood at the Samvedna International Blood and Plasma Donation Camp 2021 at District Hospital Singtam. Out of eleven; two of them were women. The program was organised by NIFAA (National Integrated Forum of Artists and Activists) India and co-organised by NIFAA Sikkim state (Singtam Branch).      On the occasion, SGSS was also presented with a memento and a certificate for the generous support towards NIFAA Sikkim during the camp. The memento was presented by Praveen Pradhan, President NIFAA Sikkim.      Krishna Chettri, President SGSS, an AB Negative blood group belonging to the rare blood group was asked to stay prepared any time by the blood bank officers, so he did not have his blood donated today. SINGTAM, DECEMBER 12: Eleven members of Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti donated blood at Blood Bank District Hospital Singtam on December 11. The blood donation program was done for the contribution towards the development of the society as mentioned at the Samiti’s memorandum. From the eleven individuals; two were women. Prior to the start of the camp, Krishna Chettri , President, SGSS said our Samiti had always been committed for the up-liftment of the society. We being part of Singtam ; the District Hospital of Singtam is our concern, any hour of time if our services are required, we Shantinagar Gaon Sudhar Samiti is always on your side, added Chettri. He also thanked the blood donors and other members of SGSS who had supported this special cause. Newa Bhay Bowney Kuthi, Singtam completed one week volunteer at hospital

20.05.20, Singtam: Newa Bhay Bowney kuthi, Singtam completed a week-long voluntary service to the District Hospital Singtam as a support to the administration in its fight against Covid-19. NBB volunteers had requested people to sanitize their hands compulsorily while entering the hospital and follow social distance norms during the registration process as per the guidelines of the administration.  The volunteers provided masks, hand wash, hand sanitizer along with counselling to the individuals who did not follow rules and guidelines while entering the hospital. NBB also provided one month's ration to migrant labours identified by the DMS who needed support at this hour. Dr Tempo Gyaltsen, DMS, DHS appreciated the effort of the NGO for providing volunteers and creating awareness at such a time which eases the pressure off the administration and helps them focus on other important things. Speaker Das inagurates Blood Bank at District Hospital Singtam

Singtam, August 05: District Hospital Singtam had its first blood bank today inaugurated by Speaker LB Das in presence of Dr. MK Sharma, Area MLA & Health Minister. The program was attended by Officials from Health Department, head of schools, members of Voluntary Blood Donars Association of Sikkim, Sikkim Unit and other social workers. Chief Guest and other guests visited the new building and congratulated the B lood Bank Department. VBDAS is working on voluntary blood donation movement since 2008 mostly motivation, donation camp and fulfill the requirements through the voluntary blood doors. Keeping the fact of blood shortage in our blood bank VBDAS is working tirelessly to create a strong network of blood donors throughout the state and national wide.

DB Subba: Singtam shall always miss him

It was a passing of an era, Dal Bahadhur Subba (1924-2012) popularly known as DB Subba passed away at his home town Singtam two weeks back making a sudden void for his close people and family around. He had seen the town of Singtam grow from a small time river side inn bazaar to become today’s one of the busiest town of the state of Sikkim. He was dedicated towards the betterment of society and without doubt he was one of the pillars of modern Sikkim. Since ‘50s’ he came infront for his voice against the social injustice of free labour system that included Kalobhari, Jharlangi and other systems of Kazi-Thekadar. He fought for the rights of the suppressed and he was their ‘voice’. His association with Late LD Kazi, the first Chief Minister of Sikkim State inspired him to play an active role in the pre merger scenario.
