Sikkim Congress chief hospitalised

from samaylive Sikkim's former chief minister and head of the Congress' state unit Nar Bahadur Bhandari was hospitalised Thursday after he fainted and complained of breathing problems. Bhandari was rushed to the Central Referral Hospital at Tadong Thursday morning in a semi-conscious state and admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU). Hospital authorities said the former chief minister, who is a diabetic, was also suffering from hypertension. According to sources, Bhandari might have had a mild cardiac arrest. He could be referred to a hospital outside the state. He had fainted while talking to Congress leaders in Delhi. "Age has caught up on him and he said he felt very weak and collapsed, it is then we put him into the vehicle and brought him to the hospital," said one of his close associates, adding Bhandari had not been keeping too well since the day the results were declared.

Opposition JAC leaders begin Jan Jagaran Aviyan “Undeclared Emergency in Sikkim”

GANGTOK, June 09: Leaders of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of opposition parties in the State began their public awareness campaign from today by distributing pamphlets among the masses, beginning from the MG Marg here in the Capital. Congress claims induction of 392 new members GANGTOK, June 12: A meeting of the Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee (SPCC) was held at the Congress Head Office here today. According a press release issued by the party today, the meeting was chaired by SPCC President Nar Bahadur Bhandari. The Secretary, All India Congress Committee Maj. Ved Prakash, who is also the incharge of Sikkim and the North East States and in-charge of the Frontal Organisations, was the chief guest on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bhandari blamed the present SDF government for the “anarchical situation of the State resulting out of administrative and financial mismanagement.” He alleged that people of Sikkim were being deprived of their democratic rights and their hopes and aspirations were being suppressed. “No one dare raise voice against the government and the Chief Minister Pawan Chamling for the fear of victimization”, Mr. Bhandari said in the press release.
