The 94th Foundation Day of Kumari Pema Tsedeun Government Secondary School , Rongli (formerly MKPT School ), was celebrated on September 29, 2023, with great pomp and show. Mr. Bishnu Kumar Khatiwara , Minister for Culture, Printing and Stationery, Government of Sikkim , graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest. Mr. K. B. Dr. Nisha Tamang Lama, a resident of Singtam , Gangtok District and the daughter of Shri Arun Tamang Lama and the late Smt. Ratna Kumari Pradhan , has achieved a significant milestone by successfully defending her doctoral thesis titled " State NGOs and Eco Tourism – A Select Ecotourism Project of Sikkim . She conducted her research under the guidance of Prof. Ranjita Chakraborty at North Bengal University. Currently, Dr. Lama holds the position of a Political Science PGT at Government Senior Secondary School, Rangpo Mining, and is married to Bikash Sundas . She has authored various papers in both national and international journals. March 24, 2023 : Dochum Junior High School held the opening ceremony for the Children's Park and Digi Lab gifted by the 17000 ft Organisation. The event was graced by the presence of Smt. Phumshi Bhutia, President of the Sirwani GPU, inaugurated the park. The highlight of the day was the felicitation program and cultural performances by the students of Dochum JHS. 17.03.23: A two-day Jolly Phonics training program for pre-primary and primary school teachers who teach English in Class I began at Sonamati SSS in Khamdong. The training program is for eighteen schools from the Khamdong Block, six schools from the Rakdong Tintek Block, and two schools from the Martam Block. The resource person for the training is Ms Nikita Kashyap, from Kids World Education Consultants in Mumbai. The Hon'ble Minister of the Education Department, Shri Kunga Nima Lepcha, the Director (SE) of the Education Department, Shri K.C. Gyatso, and CEO Gangtok, Smt. Tshering Kee Chingappa, attended the afternoon sessions. The Honourable Minister addressed the teachers and asked them to devote their full efforts to the implementation of their learning.   09.03.23: Orientation of Heads of Institutes and Teachers under Khamdong BAC and Rakdong Tintek BAC was held at Sonamati SSS. School Heads of 27 schools and one primary teacher from each of the twenty-seven schools attended the first day of the four-day FLN training for the month of March. Shri Ani Rudra Bastakoti, Zilla Panchayat, Dung-dung Thasha territorial constituency was the Chief Guest of the day. Other special guests at the inaugural day function included Shri Shyam Lall, Deputy Director, Rakdong Tintek BAC and Shri Sagar Niroula, Assistant Director, Education Department, Rakdong Tintek BAC. The three resource persons from SCERT, Dr Mahindra Tamang, Shri Rajiv Philip; and Shri Suraj Sharma. 06.08.22: A Block Cum Sub-Divisional Level Competition, under AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV to commemorate the 75th glorious year of India's Independence, was held at BAC Duga, Rangpo Sub-Division of Pakyong District. The program was chaired by Shri K B Chettri Joint Director, Sub-Divisional Education Office, Rangpo.  The winner students from Nine schools of three clusters participated in the block level competition in the following, Patriotic Song, Quiz, self-composed Poem recitation, Essay Writing, Painting and Elocution. 08.04.22: Sakyong Chisopani JHS organized an Inter House Reading Competition for both the students of Primary and Upper Primary on the occasion of the last day of the 100 days Reading Campaign. Shital Pradhan, IC of the school interacted with the students regarding the benefits of 100 days reading campaign event. Students’ feedback was collected. The students echoed that the reading campaign had made a major impact on their studies. They feel more comfortable going through their lessons. They even thanked the teachers for correcting them in the videos they used to send during the holidays. Two students each from the four houses participated in both categories of the reading competition. All the teaching staff and students from classes 3 to classes 8 attended the event. 07.04.22: The 1st Parent Teacher Meeting for this new session was held at the Sakyong Chisopani JHS. Present on the occasion were OP Niroula (AEO -Khamdong BAC), Navin Rai (President - Chisopani GPU), Karuna Gurung (Panchayat), Himali Lamichaney (Coordinator - Khamdong BAC), Kanchan Tirwa (DEO), Bikash Rai (former SMC President), SMC members, guardians and staff of the school.
