ICSE AND ISC RESULTS DECLARED

State School shows impressive results

GANGTOK, May 20: The State has registered an impression show in the Class X ICSE and Class XII ISC results this year, which was declared by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) nation-wide yesterday.

All eight CISCE affiliated Schools in the State have produced good results this year.

In the East District, Tashi Namgyal Academy, the premier institute of the State registered a 100 percent pass in Class XII ISC examinations. All 119 who appeared for the exams passed. Tshering Yanden Bhutia, Commerce stream, is the topper with 95 percent in ISC,

While Meghna Dutta has capped the ISCE with 96 percent. A total of 140 students had appeared for the ISCE exams in which all passed except one candidate. Two students got distinctions in ICSE- 2 above 90 percent, while there were five distinctions in ISC.

The St. Xavier’s, Pakyong recorded 100 percent pass in ISC with Mathew Sebastian topping science stream with 98 percent and Shradha Chettri topping 94 percent in Humanities. A total of 69 students had appeared for ISC. In the ICSE, 67 students had appeared from the School with Parikshit Dahal securing 90 percent.

Out of the 36 students that appeared for the ICSE from St Joseph, Rhenock all passed with Sushant Garg topping with 94 percent. Abhishek Pradhan got 93.8 percent and Prerna Rai 92.6 percent.

St. Joseph, Martam also recorded 100 percent pass in ICSE in which 39 students had appeared. Anandlal Gupta topped the school with 84 percent, while Karma Doma Shenga and Ugyen Tshering Lepcha secured 79 percent marks each.

In the South District, the St Francis, Jorethang also registered 100 percent pass in ICSEin which 11 students had appeared. The topper ws Neeraj Gupta (81.5 percent), followed by Mohit Sahi (71.5 percent) and Shiskak Karki- (67 percent)

All 69 students who had appeared for ICSE passed in Namchi Public School while ISC results were a little disppaointing with 5 failures amongst 37 who had appeared for the exam.

The St Mary’s Convent in Geyzing, West Sikkim registered 100 percent pass in the ICSE with all 31 passing. Pradriti Rai of the School secured 88 percent, followed by Rajani Gurung (86 percent) and Avinash Kumar (84.4 percent). There are 28 stidents securing first division in the School.

The Don Bosco, Malabasey, West Sikkim, registered a 100 percent pass in both ICSE and ISC. All 30 students passed the ISCE with Deepti Rai getting 82.2 percent. In the ISC, 14 had appeared.

It is more or less a forgotten part of the development process of the then-small Himalayan kingdom, Sikkim . The introduction of the coinage system in Sikkim ceased the way it started. A study of the coinage system of Sikkim sheds light on the socio-economic and political history of the then-small state.
