3rd Anniversary of SDF Government celebrated; CM stresses for capacity building and Green Mission an example in the country

Gangtok: The 3rd anniversary of formation of SIkkim Democratic front Government was celebrated at Chintan Bhavan on May 21, 2007.While addressing the gathering, Chief Minister directed all the officials of the department to implement the project properly and curtail the unnecessary expenditure in plan fund. During last 13 years of his Governance, Dr. Chamling further said that his government set an exemplary performance in the country in various fields of development including the launching of green mission in the State. He further said that in order to develop the capacity of the people particularly of the new generation, the government has allotted 2% of fund from the budget for the purpose.

Telemedicine linking facility at Sikkim Manipal

Governor V. Ramarao inaugurated telemedicine linking facility at Central Referral Hospital attached to Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences(SMIMS) on May 21. This facility will provide medical counselling of experts and help to diagnose the diseases, which is one of the major problem being faced by the local patients hers. Governor in his speech expected that this facility will help the majority of local patients who now need not go outside the State for such related problems.

Meanwhile, SMIMS and Investment and Development Foundation Corporation (INDFC) entered into an agreement in which SMIMS is being provided with financial investment of Rs. 120 crore.

Another Sex scandal in Darjeeling

After the immoral activities reported in gymkhana club of Darjeeling, Police arrested seven boys and one girl after raiding a house on May 21 morning. They were found in suspicious condition and police nabbed all of them as they have been found involved in immoral act. Police registered a case under IPC 290. Meanwhile, the name of accused involved in the gymkhana club have been identified as Sanjay Agrawa, Sunil Agrawal and Rajesh Agrawal who are absconding since the incident came into limelight.

Minor Earthquake again hit Sikkim and Darjeeling, disrupted power supply and created panicky situation among the residents

Another mild earthquake hit Sikkim, Dareeling and its surrounding area. The quake occured on May 20 at 7.30 evening which was strongly feel in Siliguri, West Sikkim, Darjeeling. There was disruption of power supply after the quake in Gezing, Jorethang and some part of West district of Sikkim. It was not exactly known about the damage of the quake, however, the people ran in panic for fear of the second wave. The minor quake is still experiencing in this region. Two days ago, a mild earthquake had rocked in this region in the evening of May 18 at around Gangtok which lasted for 3 to 4 second only.

A school girl allegedly raped by three at Darjeeling Gymkhana Club

A school girl studying at nine class is allegedly raped by three members of Jimkhana Club Darjeeling. It is learnt that the three persons as the members of Gymkhana club allegedly lured or induced the girl and took her at the club. The three persons after entering the room, asked the employees of the club to lock the room from outside and asked to open the door only after they finished their immoral act. The Vice President, Mr. B.M. Garg said to the newspersons that since the chairman is out of the station, they could not act in time, however they have issued the show cause notice to three alleged members.
