Singtam prepares for “Sikkim’s No.1 Dancer”



Singtam, April 7: Badhaichha Creation in association with famed Singtam Basibiyalo and ‘Proud To Be A Sikkimese’ Blog is set to organize a state level solo dance competition at Singtam. The dance competition is aptly called “Sikkim’s No. 1 Dancer”, Search for the Sikkim’s best Solo Dancer. The Media Partners for the events are Sikkim Express, Samay Dainik, Nayuma Television, Voice of Sikkim and 91.9 FM, Gangtok.
Indra Pradhan, Central Executive Member of SDF Party is the Chairperson of the Sikkim’s No.1 Dancer Competition Committee. The other distinguished committee members includes Jas Maya Rai, Vice Convenor Cheli Morcha (East) Rinchenpong, Pakyong, Karma Doma Bhutia, Vice Convenor Cheli Morcha (East), Rhenock, Mohan Pradhan ‘Neeraj”, Sansthapak Singtam Basibiyalo and TB Pradhan, President Singtam Newar Kalyan Sangathan, Praveen Pradhan, Managing Director Badhaichha Creation and Shital Pradhan, Blogger, Proud To Be A Sikkimese.  
The dance competition shall consist of three rounds i.e. Audition, Semi and Grand Finale. The Audition Round starts on April 14-15, 2012 and shall be of three minutes. The participants can perform at any form of dance but for the next two rounds there shall be Judges Round. The participants can perform in English, Nepali and Hindi songs only. The age for junior category is between 7 and 14 while for the senior category the age limit is from 15 to 25.
The forms are available at Hotel Beli Pushpa (PS Road, Gangtok), Sai Dance Academy (Deorali), New Heaven Dance Institute (Singtam), Step Dance Sensation Academy (Namchi), Prachis (Jorethang), Gupta Xerox (Rongli) and Technocom Internet Café (Rhenock). The registration form should be submitted at Gangaa Niwas, Opposite Gumpa, Shantinagar by April 12, 2012.
Praveen Pradhan, Managing Director of Badhaichha Creation has stated that main motive behind the competition is to promote the winners of the two categories. We would like to support and encourage our dance winners at different state level dance events and at national dance reality shows too. LENDUP DORJEE KHANGSARPA : The First Chief Minister of Sikkim (1975-1979)

Popularly known as L. D. Kazi, became the first Chief Minister of Sikkim in 1975 thus ending over three century old monarchy system. He became the 1st Chief Minister of Sikkim on 14 MAY, 1975 - 17 AUGUST, 1979. He was born in 1904 in Pakyong, East District. A fonuder President of Sikkim Praja Mandal, established in 1946. Later he became the President of Sikkim State Congress and held the post till 1958. In 4th general election held in 1970, Kazi was appointed an Executive Councilor and was assigned the portfolio of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry and Transport Authority. Under his presidency in 1973, the united party secured 31 out of 32 seats of State Assembly and became the first Chief Minister of Sikkim in 1974. He was married to Elisa-Maria Standford in 1968, daughter of a Belgian father and German mother who left her Scottish husband in Burma and married LD Kaji in Delhi in 1957.
