Singtam Boy appointed Consultant to University of Chicago

SINGTAM, DECEMBER 10: Prashant Pandey, son of Shri Somnath Pandey and Smt Shanta Pandey, the residence of Lower Sawney, Singtam is appointed as Consultant to University of Chicago. This is indeed an inspirational story of the hard work and dedication of a 25-year-old boy from Sikkim. Pandey is a Master of Technology (M.Tech) - Water Science and Governance (2017-2019) from The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) School of Advanced Studies (SAS)-New Delhi.

He was simultaneously awarded Consultant to Quality Control Unit of Government of India but he opted for the University of Chicago to build up his career. Prashant Pandey’s Internship experiences include Project Consultant (Intern) - WATER to CLOUD Project, University of Chicago Trust, New Delhi (Jan- May 2019); Summer Intern - The Mountain Institute (TMI) India –Gangtok (May-July 2018); Project Intern- CNHL CASE Construction, Indore - Madhya Pradesh, India. (January-May 2016).

He was an Alumni of East Point Sr. Sec School up to secondary level, Alumni of ATTC Bordang, Alumni of SMIT for B-tech Mechanical, and Alumni of TERI University (School of advance Studies) for M-Tech Water Science and Governance. He is also a pet lover.

It is more or less a forgotten part of the development process of the then-small Himalayan kingdom, Sikkim . The introduction of the coinage system in Sikkim ceased the way it started. A study of the coinage system of Sikkim sheds light on the socio-economic and political history of the then-small state. The coins of Sikkim ended the way they appeared; they came from nowhere, and finally, they got lost out in the darkness. A handful of people around Sikkim and in the districts of Darjeeling now have these rare items in their collections.
