Inauguration of New School Building and Children Park at Dongeythang Primary School

July 26, 2023 : The Dongeythang Primary School witnessed a momentous event as Balaram Adhikari, Zilla Adkshak of Gangtok District, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and inaugurated the new school building along with the 17000 ft Foundation gifted Children Park and Digital Lab. Hera Devi Adhikari, Government Contractor, were also felicitated during the event.



The inauguration ceremony, held at the school premises, was attended by a prestigious gathering of distinguished guests, including Sherap Kazi, Zilla Panchayat, NB Gurung, Panchayat President, Simik Linzey GPU and his Panchayat members, Pradeep Sharma, Principal, Sonamati SSS, Headmasters of Badong Thansing JHS, Simik Linzey JHS, Singtam SSS (Primary Section), Lingdong PS, Subuithang PS, Thangsing PS, Dipudara PS, Rabdang PS, members of SMCs, members of Narayani Pratibha Club, officials of different department, retired teachers and individuals from different department, guardians, parents, students and others were present as the attendee.

The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome speech by Karma Rinzing Bhutia, a senior teacher at Dongeythang Primary School, who shared a brief history of the institution. Sherap Kazi and Zilla Panchayat utilized the opportunity to present a few requests related to school development to the Chief Guest. CM Adhikari, an esteemed member of SMC, emphasized the need for continuous support and collaboration between the school, local authorities, and the community at large.




The cultural performances by the students of Dongeythang Primary School and poem recitations by Mahesh Dahal, Headmaster of Dipudara PS, and Reeya Neopany, a talented class 5 student of Dongeythang PS, added colour and vibrancy to the event. 

Pradeep Sharma, Principal of Sonamati SSS, delivered a succinct speech on various education policies to the gathered audience. Shital Pradhan, the Headmaster of Dongeythang Primary School, expressed gratitude towards the Education Department, Government of Sikkim, for the new school building. He also thanked the 17000 Ft Foundation for their generous gift of the Children's Park and the Digital Lab, which would undoubtedly enhance the students' learning experience. 

The Chief Guest, Balaram Adhikari, in his address, lauded the commendable efforts of the school and assured unwavering support for its further improvement. He emphasized the importance of community support in nurturing a conducive learning environment. The day's proceedings were gracefully hosted by Hari Adhikari and Bhim Prasad Adhikari, both esteemed senior teachers at Dongeythang Primary School, who concluded the event by delivering a vote of thanks. 

The inauguration of the new school building and the 17000 ft Foundation gifted Children Park and Digital Lab marks a significant step forward in the educational development of Dongeythang Primary School, promising an enriched learning journey for the students and a brighter future for the community.

LENDUP DORJEE KHANGSARPA : The First Chief Minister of Sikkim (1975-1979)

Popularly known as L. D. Kazi, became the first Chief Minister of Sikkim in 1975 thus ending over three century old monarchy system. He became the 1st Chief Minister of Sikkim on 14 MAY, 1975 - 17 AUGUST, 1979. He was born in 1904 in Pakyong, East District. A fonuder President of Sikkim Praja Mandal, established in 1946. Later he became the President of Sikkim State Congress and held the post till 1958. In 4th general election held in 1970, Kazi was appointed an Executive Councilor and was assigned the portfolio of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry and Transport Authority. Under his presidency in 1973, the united party secured 31 out of 32 seats of State Assembly and became the first Chief Minister of Sikkim in 1974. He was married to Elisa-Maria Standford in 1968, daughter of a Belgian father and German mother who left her Scottish husband in Burma and married LD Kaji in Delhi in 1957.
